Stolen Moments Sunday

At a Pop-Up Art Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Earrings: Betsy Johnson Bow Drop Earrings - bought at Macy's - mentioned here

This weekend was full of little adventures and new memories.

One of my best friends can never sit still or stay home on a Saturday night. Her plate is jam packed with multiple outings per night per weekend.  This weekend I decided to be her co-pilot and join her on her extravaganza. It took me to Williamsburg, Brooklyn to a pop-up art gallery of 12 Labors of Hercules from multiple artists. I don't exactly keep a bucket list...but I'm pretty sure I knocked one off because seriously...Brooklyn...an art show under the Brooklyn Bridge...and had to walk through a film set to get there. Yup, some New Yorker bucket list item has been crossed off.

The filming crew would not tell us what was being filmed but seeing all the lights, the man shuffling the scripts, props for what looked an art deco apartment, and a buffet of food a few tables long was surreal. I wonder if it was Two Broke Girls or something...That takes place in Brooklyn, but who knows if it's filmed there.

The art show itself too was surreal. My best friend's friend was hosting the tiny gallery event and a random influx of people came in to discuss and analyze the paintings. My best friend bought a painting which called to her and I bought one for Craig with dragons aka the hydra. He's got a thing for a dragons. =)

After the art show we made our way to a Yule-Christmas Party in Tarrytown, NY. The host and patrons are all part of the New York Renassiance Faire in Sterling Forest, NY if anyone has heard of it. They introduced me to game called Kubb. Kubb is a lawn game where it's all about strategy and knocking over the other opponets "kubbs"- wooden blocks with wooden batons. It might sound simple, but it truly was a lot of fun.

I'm so happy I tagged along because it's been a little hard to get into the Christmas spirit this year. December is evaporating and in Southern New York are temperatures are in the 60's. Yes, the 60's. It's throwing everyone off. I'm working long hours for the peak holiday season and all I've wanted to do lately is sleep. Work - Gym - Sleep. Work - Eat- Sleep. I started taking my vitamins again to give myself a little boost as well. This week will be Christmas crunch time but I'm sure it will lightened up my spirits! =)

Now, I have a snuggle partner who is waiting for me...Angel is the best!  =)

How was your weekend?
I'd love to hear!

  1. Glad you were able to get up and go with your friend. Sounds like a great time and how cool you saw a film set. Weird they couldn't tell you what it was!

I agree, while the weather is nice and we aren't freezing it makes December seem a bit strange.

  3. I'd much prefer to stay home than go out on social outings during the weekend but it always changes my mind a little bit when I do tag along my social butterfly friend and get to go to events that make me happy, much like this one has done you. It sounds absolutely lovely. Cheers to the Christmas spirit, Melanie. <3
