Starting Over - Weight Loss Check-In #2

Check-In #2 - November 2nd, 2015
Starting Weight: 214.2 lbs
~ Guilty of underestimating my starting weight two weeks ago ~

Two Week Progress
I wish I could say I drank kale juice everyday, became a vegan, ditched soda, slept 8 hours a night, and boom the weight melted off. It's never that easy. I do have to applaud myself for discovering a great brand of Quinoa - Pereg! No, this is not a sponsored post. I just fell in love with this brand. Follow the box precisely and viola - non-mushy quinoa you can use at least 3 days after it's cooked. My husband likes it too so double plus.

The days I told myself I would walk at lunch came and went. Long hours at work brought in take-out. Halloween brought a multitude of sweetness! The World Series killed my sleep completely last week and overall I was hungry too often in the day from skipping a meal or not eating a balanced meal. It's bizarre because I can feel myself falling away from the goals but I can't feel the net bouncing me back. Perhaps I have focus issues or it's something different all together.

Other than that, I have not had much progress to my dismay until today!

Looking Ahead for the Next Two Weeks
Today marked the opening of my new gym I gladly joined - Retro Fitness! I informed Craig of my plans to go, I told my mom, wrote it down in my planner, and throughout the day my Monday mantra was "Remember to go to the Gym" tonight. The kicks in the butt and motivation worked because I actually went to the gym!

I probably will be sore tomorrow, but it felt so good to be back! I didn't go crazy with it but I was pleasantly proud of myself for not succumbing to the tiredness that almost won! The gym is an actual gym with all gimmicks let to the others. I easily moved from the treadmill to the other weight lifting machines with ease with lots of options! The people there were more than willing to help me out too.

I'm not going to give myself a "I must go to the gym 4-5 days a week" because that will help me fail. I will go to the gym with a positive mindset and get my sleep back on schedule! Also continue to drink more water and choose other options rather than soda.

Goal to Lose: 4 pounds

The hardest part of this battle for me is always getting started. I can't compare myself to others. I need to celebrate small goals and furthermore not give up!

How did you start your Weight Loss Journey or What helped motivate you on your journey to being healthy!

  1. I've just started running for the millionth time but someone told me it takes 66 days for something to become a habit so I've promised myself to get to then at least - that's my motivation! Looking forward to seeing how you get on so best of luck for next week :)

  2. Melanie, I think this is wonderful progress. Getting started is definitely the hard part. My main way to motivate myself is to think of everything I can stand to regret by the end of my set time frame. Good luck!
